AVIATRIX HONOURED.

Mrs. Putnam Awarded D.F.C. From U.S. Senate. VISIT TO PRINCE OF WALES. (Received 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, May 24. "I am the proudest girl in London," said MrS. Putnam, the Atlantic flyer, on receiving news, after seeing the Prince of Wales, that the American Senate had honoured her with the Distinguished Flying Cross. Mrs. Putnam received a most enthusiastic reception when she attended a luncheon which the Institute of Journalists had arranged in honour of the United States Ambassador, Mr. Andrew Mellon. The airwoman sat between Sir John Simon and Mr. Mellon and talked with animation of her experiences on her recent trans-Atlantic flight.
