BOOK TITLE PARAGRAPHS.

TO-DAY'S NOVEL COMPETITION. Readers of the Young Folks' Budget are sure to be familiar with the titles of many of the books written by Charles Dickens and Sir Walter Scott. To-day these titles are to be used in connection with a competition that is sure to appeal to everyone. A sensible paragraph is wanted which is constructed by linking together titles of books by Dickens and Scott. The following example will give an idea of the type of work required: "The Chimes" were heard by "Oliver Twist" as he stood talking to "Martin Chuzzlewit," owner of "The Old Curiosity Shop." All titles must be in inverted commas and underlined. Remember to write on one side of the paper only, include your name, address and age, and post entries in order to reach this office not later than Wednesday next. Competition rule 5 states that Peter Pan's signature, cut from the paper, must be pasted in the top left-hand corner of the competition envelope. Do not fail to comply with this rule, as the Crocodile is always on the watch for those who do not obey it. Prizes of 7/6, 5/, 3/ and 2/6 are offered for the most original "Book title paragraphs" received at this office by Wednesday next.
