BOARD TO CALL TENDERS. FINANCE A GOVERNING FACTOR. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. Authority has been given by the board of trustees of the National Museum and Art Gallery to call tenders for the erection of. tho buildings. This decision was arrived at by the board this evening. Some time ago competitive designs were invited for the work and the award was given to plans submitted by Messrs. Gummer and Ford, architects, of Auckland. It has not been found possible to make available all the funds promised for the project, but the board has decided that it should do as much as possible with the funds available. Tenders will bo called for the whole work, but the board reserves the right to proceed with only such portion of the whole as may be covered by the funds available or progressively as circumstances will permit. It is expected that three-fourths of the intended buildings might be contracted for, according to the finance available when tenders are being considered.
