VAGRANCY CHARGE.

SALESMAN IN COURT. ALLEGATIONS BY POLICE. Arrested yesterday by Detective L. Wilson, James Goodwin Smith, aged 25, salesman, appeared at the Police Court this morning, charged with being an idle and disorderly person, with insufficient means of support. Detective Sergeant Kelly obtained a week's remand. Counsel for accused asked for bail, whereupon the magistrate asked what the circumstances were. "He's been associating with a man arrested on a housebreaking charge, who has been selling far too much old gold recently," said Mr. Kelly. "Smith admits that lie has not been working lately." Bail was fixed at £200.
