CITY ORGANIST.
WELLINGTON CONTROVERSY. PUBLIC MEETING HELD. (By Telegraph,—Press Association.) WELLINGTON', this day. Following upon Mr. Duncan's motion that the services oi the city organist be dispensed with, a public meeting was held last night to decide what representations should be made to the City Council in the matter. Mr. Duncan, who was present, said there must be something wrong when only about 50 people attended the Town Hall on Sunday evenings. His suggestion was that something more effective in the cause of music would evolve. There were a good many organists in the city and if recitals were given by these men it would popularise the entertainments.
After lengthy discussion a motion was carried that the services of the city organist should not be dispensed with, and a deputation, was appointed to place this view before the City CounciL
