OLYMPIC GAMES.

N.Z. REPRESENTATIVES. POSITION OF MISS KENCH. CHAPERONING ARRANGEMENTS. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") WELLINGTON, this -clay. Arrangements in connection with sending the team to represent the Dominion at the Olympic Games at Los Angeles this year were further advanced at a meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Olympic Games and British Empire Sports Association last night. Mr. H. Amos presided. • The secretary reported that he had received no definite information that anyone would be going to the Games with the exception of the three who had been nominated by the New Zealand A.A.A. (A. J. Elliott, J. W. Savidan and S. A. Black). He was informed an effort was being made to send C. E. Evans (Taihape), middle-distance runner. A lengthy discussion arose over the question of chaperoning Miss Kench, the only woman nominated. The opinion was expressed that the council should accept no responsibility for chaperoning. Mr. J. W. Heenan said it appeared that the rvew Zealand A.A.A. was not inclined to accept any responsibility if a woman were to go. The National Association should at least say whether or >not she should be sent without a chaperone. After further discussion, Mr. Heenan moved that arrangements be made for chaperoning Miss Kench, that thev be communicated to the New Zealand A.A.A., and that that body be asked if it was prepared to concur. It was decided that the £140 required to be deposited for each member of the team must be in the hands of the council by the end of the present month. The "Wellington Post" states that plans are under way with a view to raising sufficient money to enable the New land lady athletic champion and record holder, Miss T. Kench, of Wellington, to be one of New Zealand's representatives at the Games. DON EVANS IS GOING. WANGANUI, this day. The middle distance runner, C. E. ("Don" Evans, will attend the Olympic Games. His expenses were guaranteed at a meeting held this evening.
