SMALL FARM PLAN.
PROGRESS IN HOBSON COUNTY. SUBCOMMITTEES APPOINTED. The scheme for settling married men 011 6mall farms is being enthusiastically taken up in Hobson County. The supervisor for the Department of Agriculture, Mr. R. W. Christie, has held meetings in each riding in the county, and they were well attended, a number of sections are under offer. Sub-eommittees to act with the supervisor have been set up in each riding, with a councillor as chairman, as follows: Awakino: Messrs. T. Wels, M. Lyons (Waihue), E. Nichols (Kairara). Arapohue: Messrs. E. G. Applcton, J. G. Wilson (Mititai), and O. Speedy (Arapohue). Okohu: Messrs. J. Studholme, W. Simpkin (Arapohue), H. Montgomery (Mititai), T. F. Donns (Okohu). Tongowahine: Messrs. W. G. Sommerville, I'. E. Crawford (Tangowahine), Lcn Hawkins (Tangowaliint). Margaru: Messrs. J[ Hemphill, B. Coleman (Tangowahine), Chcstney Dunn (Mapuna). Tutamoe: Messrs. C. T. Carpenter, Boy Nilsson and Ern Heath. Waipoua: Messrs. G. T. Donuey, W. T. Hall and F. Hemmins. "It is not the intention of the ment to purchase these sections," said Mr. Christie at Tangowahine. "A lease of from 10 to 15 years at a low rental with a right to extend the lease and to acquire additional property handy to the smallholder's cottage is what is required." There were to be no "red tape'' methods. Ho had authority to put P.W.D. huts on the sections as soon as they were approved by the Department's officers, Messrs. Snmllfield and Munro. Local carters and' carpenters would 'be employed in removing and erecting the huts, and he hoped within two or three weeks to have the first of the huts moving from Tangowahine. The sections under offer would first ho inspected and reported upon by the riding committee in conjunction with the supervisor. He anticipates having no' difficulty in placing four or five small holders in each riding in the county. PIAKO COUNTY. (From Our Own Correspondent.) MATAMATA, Monday. The success of the small farm holding scheme in the Piako County seems assured, judging by the enthusiasm which is being shown by members of the Piako County Council. Mr. W. D. L. An advisory committee has been appointed, consisting of the riding members of the Piako County Council, and one other for each riding as follows: Kiwitahi, Messrs. W. B. Lowry and Fred. Thomas; Walton, Messrs. W. McLean and W. W. Dickie; Morrinsville, Messrs. W. F. Stark and J. Noble; Waihou, Messrs. W. C. Kennedy and J. Andrew; Manawaru, Messrs. W. H. Emett and F. E.
