PRICES AT FRANKTON
CATTLE A SHADE BETTER.
Messrs. Dalgety and Co. Ltd, report having held their usual weekly stock sale at Frankton yorde on Tuesday, as under: — , Fat Sheep—There was an average yarding, \vhich sold at last week s values Fat wethers (good quality) made 13/6 to 15/; fat owes, from 5/9 to 7/3; fat lambs, from 9/ to 16/6. Store Sheep—Only a few store sheep yarded. Shorn lambs, 5/4 to 5/6; woolly lambs, up to 7/; cull ewes, 1/9. Fat Cattle—An average yarding. Prices were a shade better, although there was no appreciable rise. Average weight bullockfl made £3 16/ to. £6 2/; Jersey bullocks, £2 19/; choice -Polled ■ Angus heifers, £2 17/6 to £3 10/; heavy Hereford cowe, £2 10/ to £4; vealers made 12/ to 20/. „ . ~ Store Carttle.—There was a fair yarding of store cattle, for which there was a very weak demand. Fifteen-month Polled \ngus and Hereford steers, 20/; 10 Hereford empty cows, £1; empty Polled Angus cows, 23/; aged I'oiled Angus cows, 17/j 12 weaner Polled Angus and Heretorcl calves 10/. A line of dairy cows, close to profit, made £3 10/ to £6 5/ Pigs.—A full yarding of both porkers and stores was yarded, with very few good baconers. We sold: Best baconers, £2 to £2 4/; medium baconers, £1 12/ to £1 17/; best porkers, £1 to £1 8/; lighter porkers, 12/ to 18/; choppers, £1' 12/ to £2 9/; beet stores, 10/ to 13/6; slips, 6/ to 9/; weaners, 4/6 to 6/6. Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report as follows: — Sheep.—Prime fat hoggete sold to 15/; heavy fat wethers, 14/ to 14/6; medium, 12/6 to 13/3; lighter, 10/3 to 11/; heavy prime fat ewes, 10/6; medium, 7/ to 8/; killable ewes, 4/6 to 5/6; heavy fat lambs, 12/6 to 13/; medium, 11/ to 11/10. Cattle.—Light fat steers, £4 to £4 15/; heavy fat heifers, £4 to £4 0/; light, £3 to £3 16/; heavy fat cows, £2 18/ to £3 4/; light, 25/ to £2; sound dairy cowe, £5 5/ to £6 5/; two-year Jersey heifers, £6 10/ to £7 5/. Pigs.-—Light choppers, 30/ to 33/; heavy baconers, £2 to £2 4/; medium, 34/ to 38/; heavy porkers, 21/ to 26/; medium, 19/ to 23/; stores, 11/ to 13/6; slips, 7/ to 10/6; weaners, 5/6 to 9/; Tamworth sows in pig, £2 4/ to £2 8/; Berkshire sows, 26/ to 34/; Tamworth-cross sows, £2 to £2 15/; pedigree weaner Tamworth sows, 13/ to 22/; boars, 7/ to 14/.
RUNCIMAN SALE. Alfred Buckland and Sons, Ltd., report that at their usual sale at Runciman dairy cows sold particularly well, prices ranging from £6 17/6 to £7 10/, there being a particularly nice yarding. Bulls sold from £1 15/ to £2 7/6; other dairy cows, £2 upwards. Some aged cows in milk sold from 7/. . Dairy heifere, from £5 2/6 to £7; others, £1 13/ to £3 10/. Calved heifers in milk sold from 15/. In-calf heifers were keenly sought after, and made from £1 10/ to £3 5/. Weaner heifers, from 17/6 to £1 16/; boner cows, 5/ to 17/6; weaner bull calves, 2/ upwards; fresh forward cows. £1 to £1 18/; fat cows, £2 to £2 11/.
