PROTESTS FROM HOUSEHOLDERS.

Six protests against the National Expenditure Commission's recommendation that education boards should be abolished, came before the Auckland Education Board at its meeting this morning. . The protests were from the school committees at Ngahape, Oparau, Ngongotaha, Whananaki, Maungawhau and Northcote. Several of the committees protested against the raising of the school age, while the letter from Ngongotaha deprecated the withdrawal of handwork supplies and free books and, the discontinuance of manual instruction. In protesting against the proposed centralisation of education control, the Ngahape committee voiced the opinion that if the commission's recommendation was adopted small wayback schools would not get the consideration or attention that they received under the present system. .
