STOPWORK MEETING AT HIKURANGI. CONSIDERING PROPOSED AWARD. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day. After one day's work, the Hikurangi Coal Company's mine was again idle to-day. At the instigation of the district council of the Northern Miners' Union, a stopwork meeting was held in the Criterion Theatre 'to consider the proposed award suggested at the recent conference with the Northern mine

owners. The mine closed at midnight, and the meeting was well attended. It was decided to resume work until a further conference between the owners and the miners' delegates is arranged. The ehift will go on duty at midnight to-night.
