BRITISH TEAM VISIT.
COACH FOR NEW ZEALAND.
The council of the New Zealand Rugby League met last evening, Mr. Cyril Snedden presiding over a full attendance of delegates. e Six applications for the position ot coacli of the New Zealand team to play against the English-men were submitted through the New South Wales League. The names were: Messrs. W. M. Kelly, W Farnsworth, R. Vest, G. Boddiugton and W. Williams. Mr R W. Pollock, seconded by Mr. J. McCarthy, moved for.the appointment of Mr. Kelly. Mr. E. Stallworthy, supported by Mr. W. J. Davidson, favoured the creation of a special committee to bring down a report and recommendation. Mr T Tuohy considered that there should be no delay in making a decision Messrs. W. J. Taylor and A. W. MβClymont strongly favoured the claims of Mr. Kelly on the ground that he was a New Zea'lander, who had proved himself on and off the field in New Zealand and in Australia, where he was now highly esteemed as a first-class coach and State Se On tO being put to the vote the appointment of Mr. Kelly was confirmed. # The Canterbury Football Association accepted the terms offered by the council for the Test match to be played by the British team against New Zealand at Christchmch on August 13. The reinstatement of C. and A. McElvee to t)lav for Waiuta Club, as recommended bv -the West Coast League, was approved. The transfer of C. Nome from Northland to play for Richmond (Auckland) was aP The* secretary was instructed to advise leagues that all reinstatements and transfers must be confirmed by the council in accordance with the rules. Several instances of laxity had been reported.
