WIN FOR MANUKAU TEAM,

The Rngby seven-a-side tourney at Eden Park on Saturday brought-entries from nil the senior clubs, but University, and attracted a good attendance of the public. The final was between Manukau and Ponsonby A. The teams were:— Manukau.—Johnston, Rutherford, McLaren, C. Stuart, Wicklund, Sargent, Heazlcwood. Ponsonby.—Bonliam, Bond. Frankham, M. Hook, Jamieson, Kerr-Taylor, Carter. Manukau made Ponsonby force down. .Tamicson dribbled through and just beat the opposition for a try. Then Manukau came back, and Stuart side-stepping a couple of men, got over, making the score Manukau 3, Ponsonby 2. The game ended without further score. Scores were No. 1 GROUND. First Round. OPOTIKI SUB-UNION. ' ME. P. BURTON LIFE MEMBER. The president, Mr. G. S. Moody, was iu the chair at the annual meeting of the Opotild Rugby Sub-union. Election ot oiiicers:—Patron. Mr. J. H. Reid; president, Mr. U. S. Moody; vice-presl-dents, Messrs. C. Black, J. O'Sullivan, sen., and Baker; lion, surgeons, Drs. Budd and Condy; auditor, Mr. C. H. Fleming; secretary and treasurer, Mr. C. S. Simmonds; selectors, left to management committee. A recommendation was made to the incoming committee that a grandstand be erected on the cricket reserve to accommodate 400 spectators. At a subsequent meeting of the executive Mr. W,. Burrett was re-elected chairman, while Messrs. Burrett and Webb were appointed delegates to the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union. It was decided to open the season on May 7. Reference to the impending departure of Mr. P. Burton (hendmaster of Oiiotiki High School for many years), to take charge of the Brixton Road School, Auckland, was made by the president, and in recognition of many past services he was mado a life member.

MANIAPOTO SUB-UNION. A meeting of the management committee of the Maniapoto Rugby Sub-union was held to consider the immediate improvement to the new ground acquired through the King Country Union, situated on Waitete Road, Te Kuiti. A plan to scale of the playing area of eight acres was presented by the trustees (Messrs. Copsey, Boddy, and Elliott), showing two grounds, with a space reserved for a cycling track and grandstand, with several other good building sites reserved on the front facing Waitete Road. It was resolved to get to work immediately with the improvement suggested by the trustees, in order to have the ground available for playing on within a few weeks.

FRANKLIN SUB-UNION. At a meeting of the Franklin Rugby Snbunion it was decided to confer life membership on Mr. P. A. Hillary, one of the retiring joint secretaries. My. W. Gubb was elected secretary/ u- ■■ ' Mr. A. J. Maiden was chosen as senior selector, and is to be recommended to the South Auckland Union as one of its three senior selectors. It was decided to advise the Maramarua club that the sub-union had been given control of Its area, nnd if the club desired to play in another sub-union permission had first to be obtained. On a small majority, it was agreed to enter onlv a senior team in the South Auckland "Union's competitions, which commence on April 30. RANGATAIKI SUB-UNION. Messrs. D. Lees, K. Malngay, the captain, had to retire with a broken nose, and loin Greenall suffered a fractured leg. MATAMATA. The Matamata Union commenced its championship matches on Saturday.
