MR. LANG IGNORED. Commonwealth Arranging Work For Unemployed. £3,000,000 LOAN. (United r.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 10 n.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. The Prime Minister, Mr. J. A. Lyons, announced at the conclusion of the Premiers' Conference that the Federal Government would provide financial assistance for New South Wales unemployed quite independently of Mr. Lang. Arrangements were being made with the Commonwealth Bank for a loan of £3,000,000 for allocation to the various States for relief works in the approaching winter. NOTHING SACRED. Church and Insurance Against Damage. N.S.W. CONDITIONS CRITICAL. (Received lL'.aO p.m.) SYDNEY, this day. The Congregational Union has decided to insure ite property against damage in possible disturbances. Rev. W. Patiiison at the half-yearly meeting hinted at such possibilities. "Some might say it is God's property and we should have faith. 1 think wo would bo wise to have all our church properties insured. The position in New South Wales is very critical, and we cannot shut our eyes to what is going on."
