CAR TO RETURN TO BEACH. NEW WINDSCREEN SATISFACTORY. "Wizard" Smith said this morning that tho finishing touches wore now being put to the revolving windscreen which is being fitted to his racing car. Tho car would be shipped to Awanui on Saturday morning, and he and his party would leave for Ninety-Mile Beach by car at noon. "I am satisfied that the invention of tho new windscreen wiper by Messrs. Nattrass and Dalley is a great success," said Mr. Smith. "I am more confident than ever that next week I will break the present one mile record."

PENDING EITIGATION.

SECURITY FOR COSTS. Under an order from the Supreme Court, Mr. Don .T. Harkncss, designer and builder of Hie Fred H. Stewart "Enterprise," is to deposit £300 as security for costs in liis. action against Mr. Norman ('•Wizard") Smith, the driver of the car. The application was made by counsel for Mr. Smith, and his manager, Mr. J. 11. Mostyn, who arc jointly cited in the writs which have been issued. The grounds were that Mr. Harkncss was not at present in New Zealand. Counsel for Mr. Harkncss argued against the application, which wan heard in chambers. Word was received in Auckland yesterday that Mr. Harkness would leave Sydney for Auckland on Friday.
