WEDDINGS OF THE DAY.
KAY—CUCKSEY. White flowers decorated the Holy Cross Church, Banff Avenue, Epsom, yesterday afternoon when the marriage took place of Miss Dorothy Cucksey, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. 'R. H. Cucksey, of Gladwin Road, Epsom, to Mr. Leonard A. Kay, only son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Kay, of Korakanui, Te Awamutu. Father O'Byrne officiated, and a solo, "Ave Verum," was sung in the church by Mrs. A. F. Cantwell. The bride was given away by her father. She wore a very dainty gown of cream net over satin. The bodice of satin was tight-fitting, and from the waistline the full skirt, composed of tiny frills of net, fell to the ankles. Small posies of orange blossom dotted here and there made pretty, trimming on the skirt, and she carried a bouquet of white with touches of palest pink. Her veil of lace, which was lent for the occasion by an aunt, was worn well back on the head and caught with orange blossom clusters ' at the nape of the neck, from where it fell over the shoulders, forming a train. Misses Betty Crowley (of Pukeatua), Mona Kay (sister of the bridegroom) and Eileen Treston attended the bride, and made a charming group in frocks of dawn taffeta. Their frocks were fashioned in picture style, with tight-fitting bodices and full skirts, narrow ruchings ] making smart trimming around the I sleeves and necks and on the large bows at tho back. Their tip-tilted hats were of apricot felt, threaded with velvet t<; tone, and they carried bouquets in autumn tints. The bridegroom was supported by Mr. Barton Kelly, as best man, and Messrs. J. McClintock and P. Quin as groomsmen. A reception at which about 80 guests rttended, was held after the ceremony at the, Domain Tea Kiosk, which was beautifully decorated for tho occasion with masses of autumn flowers. Mrs. Cucksey received her guests, wearing a frock of dark brown satin, with smart little coat of brown velvet in plaid pattern. Her hat was of brown felt to tone, and she carried an autmn-tinted bouquet. The bridegroom's mother was in a winecoloured frock of crepe de chine, with black felt hat trimmed with touches of fawn. Her bouquet was of red dahlias. Mrs. Cucksey, sen., grandmother of the bride, wore a frock of black faille and lace, under black georgette coat, with black hat trimmed with black and white ospreys. She carried mauve flowers. COMPTON—NICHOLAS. The marriage was qulclTy celebrated at the Mount Albert Presbyterian Church last evening of Miss Clarinda Josephine Nicholas (Linnie), second daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Nicholas, of Wellington, to Captain John Edwin Compton, of London, of the Port Huon, and commodore of the Commonwealth and Dominion Line, third son of. tho lato John Nicolas Compton, Devonshire, England. The Rev. W. D. Morrison Sutherland officiated. Tlio bride, who was given away by her brother-in-law, Mr. Nairn Le Petit, wore an ankle-length frock of ivory silk net embroidered with circular floral motifs in shades of yellow and gold. Over it she wore a white fur jacket, and her close-fitting hat was of gold lame. She carried a posy of yellow chrysanthemums and roses. In attendance as matron of honour was Mrs. Isabel Halligan, of Wellington, sister of the bride, who wore a frock of leaf green lace with a tiered skirt, a white fur jacket and green hat. She carried a posy of crimson-shaded flowers. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. A. C. Neall, chief engineer of tho Port Huon, as best man. Following tho ceremony, the bride's sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. N. V. Le Petit, entertained a family party at the Grand Hotel, Mrs. Le Petit wearing an anklc-longth frock of turquoise-bluo silk marocain with a whito caracnle Russian jacket and a close-litting blue beaded hat. She carried a posy of pink and lavender flowers. For going away the bride wore a Burgundy-red frock with a musquash fur coat and Burgundy-red velour hat trimmed with an osprey.
