WAIHI BANKRUPT.
SLACKNESS OF BUSINESS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI, Friday. A meeting of creditors in the bankrupt estate of William W. Rowe, draper, of Waihi, was held yesterday morning before the Official Assignee, Mr. A. W. Watters. The schedule showed £793 7/(5 owing to unsecured creditors and £423 17/2 to secured creditors. The securities were estimated to produce £1100. The Official Assignee said the books indicated that bankruptcy was inevitable, as the business had been dropping from year to year. Although the system of bookkeeping was not all that might have been wished for in such a business, bankrupt had made an honest attempt to keep track of the position. The creditors present expressed sympathy with bankrupt, and it was unanimously agreed that no obstacle be placed in the way of his discharge. The realisation of the stock was left in the hands of the assignee in conjunction with a representative of the largest creditor.
