VALUELESS CHEQUE CHARGE.
BAIL REFUSED FOR YOUNG MAN. A motor engineer, Wallace Dalkeith Morrison, aged 23, appeared in the Police Court to-day, charged with obtaining i sby means of a valueless cheque at Xapier on March 23. In obtaining a remand until next Saturday, Detective Sergeant Kelly said other charges irom Dannevirke, Eotorua and Auckland were pending. Counsel applied for bail, but Mr. Kelly objected, stating that Morrison intended to leave for Sydney by the Ulimaroa yesterday," and was arrested not long before the ship's departure by Detective Sergeant Doyle. Bail was refused.
