"NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH."
A presentation of James Montgomery's delightful comedy "Nothing But The Truth," in which the hero is induced to bet that he will tell the exact truth for a period of 24 hours, will be given at His Majesty's Theatre on April 9 by the Zoe Bartley-Baxter Players, assisted by Sister Hovey. The proceeds will be in aid of the Rev. Jasper Calder's City Mission. The cast will be of local players, most of whom are well known to the public of Auckland. The hero, Bob Bennett, is played by Tim Hudson, who makes an appearance for the first time since his Sandy in "Hay Fever." Lees Bullot (of " Mrs. Moonlight" fame) and Mona Walbank, of the Little Theatre Society, who will be remembered for her work in " A Bill of Divorcement," are both included, as the Ralstons, husband and wife, and parents of Gwen Ralston, the heroine and chief cause of the bet made by her sweetheart. Ysolinde McVeagh takes this role. She is also from "Mrs. Moonlight," in which she took the lead, and she has toured with Ethel Morrison. Fay Reynolds is seen as Ethel, Peter Bathurst is seen as Dick, Norton Hammond as Van Dusen, and Dan Flood as the Rev. Dr. Doran. Gwen MacNaughton and Eileen Adkins play the delightful roles of Mabel and gabel.
