i TANGITERORIA. A meeting of tlic Women's Institute j was held in tlie Settlers' Hall, when several new members were welcomed. "Something new from something old" brought a number of entries. Each member contributed a song or recitation to the programme. Afternoon tea provided by Mesdames Clarke and Beattyy, brought an enjoyable afternoon to a close. TANEATUA. '*• , Tho March meeting of the institute was Eehl recently, Mrs. N. Semmens presiding. Remits for the federation meeting to bo held shortly at Whakatano were dealt with. An interesting demonstration on glove-making was given By Mrs. Stewart, of Whakatane. During the afternoon vocal items were given by Mesdames Campbell and Greenhalgh, and pianoforte items by Mesdames Gooch and Stewart. Afternoon tea was served by tlie hostesses, Mesdames Rogers, Hayward, Fitchett and Mi 66 Ashworth. WAIMAUKU. The first meeting of the Waimauku Women's Institute was held in the local hall on Wednesday. The president, Mrs. L. Kerr-Taylor, gave a reading to the members from the institute rules. Mrs. R. Matlieson addressed the members urging them to co-operate in making this new branch a success. Twentythree new members were enrolled. A produce and home cookery stall was well patronised, and it was decided to have a stall at each meeting. A "Sing, Say or Pay" programme caused amusement. Mesdames M. J. Babbington and R. Matheson were chosen as delegates to attend the provincial conference. The new committee acted as hostesses for the afternoon.
