DIOCESAN HUGH SCHOOL.
MISS SANDFORD RESIGNING. The headmistress of the Diocesan High School for Girls, Epsom, Miss E. H. Sandford, is resigning at the end of the year, to to turn to England and resume teaching there. Mks Sandford is now in her sixth year of office at the Diocesan, and during the greater part of her time she was mainly concerned with getting the school on a sound basis during a, period of reconstruction through which the institution was passing. In a message to parents she points out that last year the school entered upon a period of consolidation, and such moments were not propitious for a change in control, but she believed that it should be possible for a new headmistress to take over the school next year without any great difficulties of adjustment. Miss Sandford stated that she was very thankful to the school council for the opportunity that had been given her of such inspiring work and service.
