DRANK HOME BREW.
WOMAN'S BAD LANGUAGE. OUTBURST ON VERANDAH. A well-dressed young woman named Josephine Lorenzo appeared in the Police Court on summons this morning and pleaded guilty to a charge of having used obscene language. "I plead guilty, but I was very intoxicated at the time," said Lorenzo. "The language this woman used was about as low as it was possible to use," said Detective Sergeant Kelly. "She came out on to the verandah and screamed, and, after using this heliotrope language, slammed the door and went inside again. I think ehe had a good deal of home brew that evening, (is she afterwards explained that she had no recollection of rising the language. Apparently the home brew was so potent that it caused her to burst forth the way she did. In such a respectable locality where the offence occurred it was not very nice for those who wished to get to sleep to have to listen to such filth."
"The punishment is very inadequate, as I don't like to fine people much these days," said Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., who convicted the woman and ordered her to pay costs amounting to 13/0. "I would like to be prohibited," said the woman. "Very well," replied the magistrate, "you will be prohibited."
