WRESTLING

BOUTS AT ROTORUA. The Easter wrestling and boxing programme being staged at the new Sylvana Stadium at Rotorua was opened on Thursday evening, when the wrestling section was held. There was a good attendance. The boxing section commenced on Friday evening and will be concluded on Monday. Mr. F. Williams, of Hamilton, was referee. The principal event of the evening was a match between George Walker (Auckland) and Kereopa. The opening of the, contest showed promise of an interesting match, but before the men had been wrestling five minutes Kereopa had his shoulder sprained and had to retire. Following were the results of the various matches.—Kenneth (Auckland), list 41b. drew with Obarr (Hamilton), list 71b, no falls; Kelly (Auckland), 3 ost. beat Pompey (Rotorua). lOst, securing a fall in the third round; Pilkington (Rotorua). Ost 31b. drew with Williamson (Auckland), Ost 71b. Williamson securing a fall in the second round and Pilkington a fall in the third round; Newton (Hamilton). 10st 101b, drew with Munce (Auckland), 30st 41b. no falls: Whiti (Rotorua), lOst Gib. beat Rawiti (Rotorua). lOst, securing a fall in the third round.
