ROYAL FAMILY.
INVITATION TO DOMINION. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE CONGRESS. LORD BLEDISLOE GUARDED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The hope that a membere of the Royal Family might be able to visit New Zealand next year on the occasion of the congress of Chambers of Commerce of the British Empire was expressed by Mr. A. Jacobs, president of the United Commercial Travellers and Warehousemen's Association at the opening of the annual conference to-day.
Replying, the Governor-General, Lord Bledisl'oe, said there was no lack of willingness on the part of the King and members of his family to comply with the invitation. It was only fair to say, however, that economic conditions in the Old Country and New Zealand rendered realisation of the hope extremely difficult. His Excellency said his efforts would be unremitting, but unices there was very substantial improvement in the financial position and the outlook of both countries he very much feared that they would not have the opportunity of welcoming a members of the Royal House.
