SLEW DRUNKEN WIFE.

ENGLISH MURDER TRIAL. LONDON, March 9. George Tandy, charged with murdering his wife on December 9, was found guilty but insane, and sentenced to be detained during His Majesty's pleasure. Accused's daughter gave evidence that she and her brother had protected their father at times from :heir mother's drunken fury. The judge said the prisoner was entitled to sympathy. He had been both mother and father to his children. The wife of George Tandy, who was an unemployed asphalt worker, was found buried underneath the floor of a greenhouse. The police gave evidence that accused, in a statement, said his wife had made his life a hell. She was always drinking, and she had told him she would do something to their little lad, so he thought it best that she went first, and he killed her.
