HOLDING TIN PRICES,
STATEMENT OF POOL POLICY. (British Official Wireless.) (Received 11 a.m.) RUGBY, March 9. In view of erroneous reports in regard to tin held by the international tin pool, the chairman of the committee of control states that no part of the pool's holding has been, or will be, released otherwise than in accordance with the sliding scale of prices approved by the Government's statutory international tin quota agreement. The first release, amounting to five per cent of the pool's holding, will be made only if, and when, the average price of spot tin on the London metal exchange has exceeded £365 per ton during a completed calendar month. THE PRICE OF GOLD. (Received 11 a.m.) LONDON, March !). Following further improvement in New York exchange to $3.74%, the price of gold was fixed at £5 10/5 per ounce. AMERICAN WHEAT STOCKS. (Received 11 a.m.) WASHINGTON, March 9. The Department of Agriculture estimated that wheat still held on farms at March 1 woe 207,323,000 bushels, representing 23.2 per cent of. the last wheat crop. CHICAGO WHEAT VALUES. (Received 11 a.m.) CHICAGO, March 9. Wheat for delivery in March is quoted at 57% cents per bushel, for delivery in May at 60% cents, for July delivery 62% cents, and for September 64% cents. PRICES FOR METALS. LONDON, March 8. (Quotations on March 7 in parentheses.) Copper.—Spot, £33 18/9 (£34 16/3); three months, £34 8/9 (£35 3/9). Electrolytic Copper—Spot, £39 (£40); three months, £40 (£4l). Wire Bars.—£4o (£4l). Lead—Spot, £12 17/0 (£13); three months, £13 7/6 (£l3 10/). Spelter.—Spot, £12 18/9 (£l3 5/); three months, £13 7/6 (£l3 15/). Tin.—Spot, £133 2/6 (£137 12/6); three months, £134 12/6 (£139 3/9).
