MR. C. D. DOEL. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, Wednesday. The death occurred at his residence "Rosella," Tikipunga, last night of Mr. Charles Don Doel, aged 94. Mr. Doel was born at Newcastle, N.S.W., and his father was one of the miners who assisted in the opening up of the Kiripaka field, where extensive operations were once carried on. About 15 years ago he commenced mining operations on his own account. He was one of the principals of Doel and Foote's mine, Hikurangi, which was a good proposition. About six years ago he sold his interest to his partner and carried out prospecting work at Kiripaka and Glenbervie. The present Glenbervie mine, which now employs a number of men, was opened up and managed by Mr. Doel, who was not only a very experienced miner, but a man who, by the force of his own example, obtained the best from his employees. He leaves a widow and a young family of four.
