BALD HEADS.

From time to time the public is regaled with letters in the newspapers regarding brains and baldness, as a relief to the mass of depressing news we have to put up with. As the views of the man in the street on this momentous question are naturally coloured by the condition of his own pate, it seems desirable that an unbiased opinion should be sought, to wit, that of science, which *e all revere. Medical science says decidedly that baldness is caused by dandruff. That being that, we must next find out if superiority of brains (or any brains) produces dandruff. Again, medfcal science is emphatic. Dandruff is caused by neglect of the proper treatment of the scalp and its natural covering. Therefore, we come to the logical conclusion that a man is bald because he has not looked after his poll properly. I knew a man who really believed that his baldness was the result of his habit w scratching his head when studying to pass examinations. This seems rather to go against Mr. Superior Brain's thcLiy, as one's sense revolts against the idea of a massive brain having to scratch his head when trying to think. ** is not much use giving our acquaintances the once over in connection with this ejmtion. Of two of the silliest asses I ever knew, one was bald and tfte other had a good thatch. RATS.
