ROWING.

CHAMPIONSHIP EIGHTS.

NGARUAWAHIA REGATTA.

INSURANCE AGAINST RAIN.

The Ngaruawahia Regatta executive last night decided to take out an insurance policy against loss by rain on the morning of the regatta for £300 against .10in of rain falling between 7.30 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. The rowing entries received number 39. Entries for Maori canoe races are coining in daily, and promise to equal last year's. Two sets of trial fours will compete for the North Shore Club's captain's (Mr. W. Dean) medallions at the week-end at Devonport.

At a recent meeting of the Marlborouuh Rowing Association, according- to the "Marlborough Express," arrangements for the Interprovincial Regatta were dealt with. After some discussion it was decided to put on the programme with the interprovincial eights, on March 26, four four-oared mile races in clinker boats, the classes being for heavy-weights, lightweights, youths and juniors.' Entries for these events close on March 16. Entries for the interprovincial eights race close on March 12. The time-table for the regatta was drawn up to start with the heavy-weight maidens at 11 a.m., the big race being timed for 3 p.m., while provision was made for a Possibles v. Probables race at 4.30 if desired by the New Zealand Council. It was decided to issue complimentary tickets for the dance to all competitors in the eights, also to hold a Sounds picnic during the week-end after the race. With the Marlborough crew a total of six crews should face the starter in the championship eights, , as requests _ for accommodation have been made by Wellington, Christchurch, Wanganui, Auckland and Otago. The Auckland crew is in steady training, and long rows are indulged in when I water conditions permit.
