LARRIKIN WARNED.
OBSCENE LANGUAGE IN STREET.
Arrested late last night on a charge of using obscene language in Pitt Street, Alfred Arnold Carey, aged 20, appeared at the Police Court this morning. He admitted the charge. , Detective Sergeant Kelly said Sergeant Ebbett heard three young men shouting and singing along Pitt Street. When passing two young women, accused made use of a filthy expression to them. "Carey is one of the street hoodlums who often cause the police annoyance," added Mr. Kelly. "This is his first appearance." "I have a very good method of curing you larrikins if you come up the second time," the magistrate told Carey. A Salvation Army officer said he thought the offence was the result of Carey having too much liquor. A prohibition order would do him good. "What! A prohibition order," said the magistrate. "Why, he's only 20, and should not be supplied with liquor at all. He's fined £1, and if he conies up here again I will send him up above."
