SOCCER SEASON.
CLUB ACTIVITY STARTS
PONSONBY ANNUAL MEETING
A harbinger of the Soccer season, and a reminder of the near approach of the commencement of activities for the year, was the annual general meeting of the Ponsonby Club held in the Leys Institute last night, which was well attended. Dr. Neil MacDougall, chairman of the Control Board of the A.F.A., attended the meeting, and he was voted to the chair. The doctor at the outset expressed his appreciation of the loyal support the Pqnsonby Club had always given the association and voiced his admiration of the traditionally sporting spirit displayed by the teams on the field. He outlined the reconstruction work that had been carried out by the Control Board in the close season, directed toward placing the code on a firm and prosperous foundation. He made optimistic reference to the prospects for the incoming season and expressed the hope that harmonv and smooth working would char* acterise 1032. The election of office-bearers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr. G. Hunt; management committee, Messrs. J. Davies, A. Skclton. A. Dimery, R. Innes. F. Green, W. Robertshaw, L. Tyzerd, J. McCosh; lion, secretary and treasurer, Mr. L. Downes: assistant secretary. Mr. E. Masters; delegates to A.F.A., Messrs. Davies, Skclton, Dimery; hon. auditor, Mr. I. Skerritt. The election of the selection committee was left in the hands of the management committee. A cordial vote of thanks to Dr. MacD'agall for his services was accorded, and concluded the meeting.
