AMALGAMATION.

UNION.WITH AUCKLAND CITY.

MT. ALBERT AND MT. EDEN.

POLL OF RESIDENTS TO-DAY.

A poll on the question of amalgamation with the City of Auckland was taken in" the boroughs of Mount Eden and Mount Albert to-day. The matter has been keenly discussed in both boroughs for the past month, and there has been" ar division of opinion whether or not union with the city is desirable.

The final shots in the amalgamation campaign "were fired last evening, the Mayor of Auckland (Mr. G. W. Hutchison) giving a clear outline of the city finances to a large attendance at the Empire Theatre, Dominion Road. Voting was steady in both boroughs this morning, a large number of motor cars being used to bring residents to the polling booths.

The polls will close at 7.0 this evening, and it is anticipated that the result will be known soon afterwards.
