KILLED BY EXPLOSION.

TAUMARUNTJI, Tuesday.

Workmen engaged in preparing a tramline for a hauler at Mr. E. W. Smith's sawmill at Te Koura, about 10 miles from Taumarunui, this morning, heard an explosion along a newly-formed road, and on investigating found the body of Mr. Samuel Bond, aged 24 years, lying near the side of the road. It is believed that he was using explosives to clear away a portion of the roadline.

The young man was a son of Mr. Samuel Bond, sen., who has been in Mr, Smith's employ for 35 years.
