STOLE FROM EMPLOYER.
FARMHAND AT OPOTIKI. ARRESTED IN AUCKLAND. The* theft of various articles valued at £50. belonging to Gerald F. Joblin, at Woodlands, near Opotiki, on February 27, was admitted by Vincent Wallace, labourer, aged 21, when he appeared at the Police Court this morning. Wallace was originally charged with breaking and entering and the theft of goods worth £00, but this charge was withdrawn, and the theft charge substituted, so that Wallace might be dealt with suinmarilv.
Detective eSrgeant Kelly said accused was a single man and had been employed on Mr". Joblin's farm for two or three weeks. Mr. Joblin and his family went away for a while and left Wallace in cliarge. During their absence he entered the house, stole the articles and then cleared out. He was shortly afterwards arrested in Auckland by Detective Moore.
Wallace was remanded in custody for a week, pending a report from the probation oflicer.
