Husband and Lover Decide That
One Must Die,
ETERNAL TRIANGLE. (Received 1.30 p.m.) PARIS, March 7. Madame Dubarle, yielding to the pressure of her persistent lover Raguigne, left home in January and took her two children to live with Raguigne at Aubervilliers. The wife was deaf to Dubarle's entreaties to retrace her steps and return to the marital roof. Therefore the husband invited Raguigne to meet him at a cafe where they dramatically discussed the problem. Both agreed that one must die. Dubarle produced a fearsome long knife and said: "Here's a knife and here's my heart, strike."
Raguigne, smitten with remorse, pushed the knife away and produced a stiletto, with which he stabbed himself to the heart. While dying ho received Dubarle's forgiving benediction. As the upshot of the drama Dubarle was charged with having in his possession a lethal weapon.
SEIZED TOBACCO. DISPOSAL AT HOME. (Received 1 p.m.) LONDON, March 7. The Financial Secretary to the Treasury, Major W. E. Elliott, told an inquirer in the House of Commons that the tobacco seized for contravention of tho Customs Act, if fit for smoking, was supplied to inmates of criminal and mental institutions. If unsmokeable the tobacco was sent to botanic gardens for fumigating purposes. WHEAT FOR WORKLESS. HOOVER SIGNS MEASURE. (Received 12.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON, March 7. President Hoover to-day signed a bill authorising the distribution of 40,000,000 bushels of the Federal Farm Board's wheat for the benefit of unemployed.
