DELAY TO SHIPPING

In view of the frequent delays to steameron account of crew troubles, and seeing there are so manv men seeking employment at present, it seems to me that the Government should introduce legislation to prevent preference being given to unionists. It is inconceivable that mail steamers should be delayed and passengers inconvenienced because a unionist is not available, when so many men are looking for work. If Gilbert, of comic opera fame, were alive to-day he would have a great opportunity, as the whole matter might be regarded in the nature of a comedy were it not for the serious loss and inconvenience entailed on account of these continual hold-ups. UNEMPLOYED.
