MURDER IN WHARE.
EVIDENCE OF VIOLENCE. OLD MAN'S TRAGIC DEATH. UNKNOWN ASSAILANT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) BLENHEIM, Thursday. The adjourned inquest into the death of Mr. James Flood, aged 75 years, who lived alone in a whare in Pieton, was held to-day before the coroner, Mr. E. J. Hill. Mr. Flood was found dead with his throat cut on November 5. He was lying oil the floor of his whare with the door locked and the key missing. No weapon was found near the body. Medical evidence showed that deceased's skull was fractured, and his head nearly severed from his body. The coroner said the medical evidence showed that the injuries could not have been self-inflicted. The wounds were of such a nature as to leave 110 doubt that they were the result of a murderous attack. The verdict would be that deceased died from extensive wounds in the throat and a fracture of the skull, such wounds having been inflicted by some person or persons unknown.
