TE AWAMUIU TRACKS.

v SPALPIKO SPEEDS UP. PEGAWAY WORKING WELL. The course proper, about 30 feet from the rails, was available for fast work at T:c Awamutu yesterday, but the plough track, which was in excellent order, was made full use of, and some very pleasing efforts wero registered. The Course Proper. Pegaway was not extended while running three furlongs in 3Ss. He continues to work on well, and has some good races left in him yet. Ivarapoti, pulling hard, placed two furlongs behind in 255. He looks well, and is getting through some very useful tasks. Spalpiko was given his first sprint for some njonths, running along nicely over five furlongs with Jonathan in 1.7. That Spalpiko is very well is evidenced by the fact that after his sprint, when doing trotting exercise on the inside track, he took hold of the bit and went two circuits before beiifg steadied. He is engaged at Bo.torua, but it is doubtful if he will start. Jonathan also worked well. On tho Plough. Beryl Latour and Taurua were well ahead of Trishna at the completion of seven furlongs in 1.31. Beryl Latour is showing improved form, and hits out nicely in her tasks. Taurua also went well, but H troubled by hard tracks. Soloist and 1 Lapstone were on even terms after placing : five furlongs behind in 1.2 2-5. This was a yery useful effort. Lapstone's Mata- • mata prospects look promising. Chateau and Sea Ruler ran half a mile in 50 4-ss. ' Both were doing it easy at the finish. 1 Urination was behind Safe Bank (Lapi- 1 dary—Lily Bank) after dashing over half a mile in 51s. Loombination, who is still j very sore, was restricted to pace work on 1 the plough. Others to do useful work were 1 Lucidus, Te Ilomai, Transaction, Marcchal, and King's Knave.
