ELLERSLIE TRACK WORK.

A QUIET MORNING. It was a quiet morning at Ellerslie this morning, most of the horses being on the easy list after the Takapuna meeting. No. 2 grass track waa open, and was in good order. The tan track «'ito also available. On the No. 2 grass Royal Survey ran six furlongs in 1.18 2-5. Escalus completing a similar task in 1.18 3-5. Both horses did their work comfortably. On the tan Sir Archie sprinted half a mile in 52 4-ss. Desert Star taking 55 l-oa for a similar distance. Rase Latour and Spring Abbey were together at the end of six furlongs in 1.22 3-5. Imamint was worked over a round, taking 1.27 4-5 for the last six furlongs. Manawhenua commenced work at Ellerslie this morning after a couple of months' spell. He is looking in excellent condition. Taneriri is also being hacked about, and will start work shortly. DESERVED HIS WIN. The win recorded by Dominican in the Waiwera High-weight was well deserved, for the grey gelding ran a solid race, staying on in good style over the last half-mile. This horse has previously shown useful form over a distance, and if his attentions ar<> confined to similar races lie should pay his iv.iv. Dominican liiav later on be giver, a further trial over hurdles, and as he ha* already shown some ability as a juniper he should have goixl prospects in that department.
