REPRODUCTIVE WORKS.
DRAINAGE SCHEME PLANNED. EMPLOYMENT FOR 200 MEN. (From Our Own Correspondent.) PUKEKOHE, this day. Drainage works on the Aka Aka Plains will absorb 200 men during the next three months. It is expected°that £3000 will be spent in widening and deepening the drains, the Aka Aka Drainage Board to find £1000 of the cost. Mr. W. Bromley, a member of the Unemployment Board, made a visit to the district yesterday, accompanied by Mr. J. N. Massey, M.P. for Franklin. The question of employing relief workers on a sewerage scheme for Pukekoho was discussed between Mr. Bromley and the Mayor of Pukekohe, Mr. John Routly. The visit of Mr. Bromley i s regarded as an indication of the Unemployment Board's desire to place men in reproductive work, provided the outlay is not excessive.
