ATTACKED BY SWORDFISH.
LAUNCH AT CAPE RODNEY. HOLED ABOVE WATER-LINE. A striped marlin estimated to have weighed about 4001b charged the Auck-land-owned launch Little Jim on Friday evening as it was travelling to tlie fishing grounds between Cape Rodney and the Little Barrier. The sword of the fish pierced the hull of the launch on the port side, above the water-line and protruded Bin through the foredeck. The sword was broken off short ani about loin to 18in of it was left behind by the fish, which escaped. The hull was broken for about 2ft and four new planks were required to repair tlio damage. As the Little Jim was dipping into the head sea, those on board; felt the impact, which shook the vessel from stem to stern. An inspection showed that the launch was not making any water, but her owner, Mr. J. Knaggs, decided to run for Leigh for temporary repairs.
