AMALGAMATION MOVE.

HOSPITAL BOARDS IN NORTH. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day. A resolution, stating that the time had arrived to consider seriously the advisability of the amalgamation of the Northern hospital boards districts and that the six hospital boards in the North be requested to arrange a conference to consider the question, was carried at a meeting of the Kaipara Hospital Board at Paparoa yesterday. It was stated that consolidation would ensure efficiency as well as economy. Also the subsidies from the local bodies and the Government would be more easily collected by one board. The six hospital boards were supervising only a small number of people. The burden of charitable aid was stated, to be too heavy a drain on the boards' finances. The Kaipara Board held that the provision of relief should lie the function of the Government and he provided out of the Consolidated Fund.
