WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.

SUPPORT BRITISH INDUSTRIES. The National Federation of the Women's Institute of England and Wales has circularised all the institutes at Home urging members to support the "Buy British" campaign. Women's institutes in New Zealand are not behindhand in this respect, for recently the official organ gave the fullest publicity to an appeal by the Prime Minister and his colleagues to support the industries of New Zealand and the Empire, and every effort is being made by women's institute members to use, to the best advantage, the products of their own land (states the "Dominion"). Speaking at a group meeting held at Wanganui last week. Miss Stops' stressed the importance in women's institute work of training what -she desig-1 liated as the "H's," viz., hands, hearts, health and homes. First, tile "hands" were trained by means of handicrafts, to carry out thoroughly all they attempted. Secondly, the "heart" training was shown in the wonderful spirit of fellowship and co-operation which grew in the institutes. Thirdly, the "health" of souls and bodies was an important branch of work, since the well-being of | a nation depended on. the spiritual and physical health of individuals. The importance attached to the training for "home" making was indicated in the Women's Institute motto "For Home and Country." Miss Stops urged all members to continually be on the look-out for those things which tend to better the world, and said, further, that during "jar stay in New Zealand she had learned a great deal, particularly from members in the baekblocks, and had noticed that the spirit of mutual help was much in evidence.
