HUNTLY, Monday.
A further 115 miners to-day received notices of dismissal at the Olen Afton and McDonald mines. This makea e. total of 107 dismissed at these two mines out of a total of 510 previouily employed. About three weeks ago o— men received their dismissals from these mines. All the mines in the district are averaging only two days' work a, week. It is understood the majority of the men concerned in to-day's dismissals «re residents of Huntly, and this will adu •neatly to the present position of unemployment in the district. Local busings people are greatly concerned.^ To-day 50 of the men dismissed prior to Christmas started on relief works in and around Huntly, but doubts are expressed its to whether work will be fouiK. for many more.
