BUSINESS MAN'S FALL.
SEVEN VALUELESS CHEQUES. ADMITTED TO PROBATION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Daniel Campbell, aged 40, who was stated to have been in quite a fair way of business in Wellington, but to have become a victim to drink and lost his business, to-day pleaded guilty to seven charges of obtaining money and other goods by valueless cheques He also admitted having obtained £2 by false 1 The total amount involved was stated to be £19 10/. Five cheques were issued at Wellington and Petone, two at Christchurch, and the false pretencc cnargo was an offence at Dunedin, where he represented to a firm that he was an employee of Harris and Campbell. The magistrate admitted Campbell to probation on condition that he abstained from liquor and made restitution at a rate to be fixed by the probation officer.
