CRICKET.
MID-WEEK GAMES.
PROGRESS OF COMPETITION.
The mid-week competition has now reached a very interesting stage- *- n . Post Office Club, -which has held the leau since early in the season, lias been displaced by Nicholson Park, and the Transport Club is right on the two leader s heels. The points table now reads: Nicholson Park 33. Port Office 32, Transport Club 29, Ellerslie Town Board -T, Amburys, Etd. 25, H.M.s. Philomel Jo, Waterside Workers 12. Auckland Milk Co. forfeited all points in the first round.
Should Amburys, I/td. continue to improve, as they have done since the beginning of the season, they will make the present leaders do their best to keep in front "f them. The Nicholson Park teaaxi, composed of Jit. Eden relief workers, has at times been hard pressed to Held a team, and under the circumstances has r * OIIG remarkably well to gain the lead. There are several young players iu this team who show great promise.
Post Office have been very unfortunate in niit being able to lield their best on occasions they have been beaten. Xliis club's success has beeu achieved mainly by superority in bowling. Owing to Amburys, Ltd., and Waterside workers holding their annual picnic on Wednesday, only two matches will be held, wat between Nicholson Park and Ellerslie Town Board, at Ellerslie. and Auckland Milk Co. v. Post Office at Victoria Park. Amburys v. H.M.s. Philomel and Waterside "orbers v. Transport Club will be played by mutual arrangement at a later date, probably Thursday, January 21.
