OUTDOOR RELIEF.
HUNDREDS OF APPLICANTS.
POLICE CONTROL QUEUES.
2000 OASES IN THREE DAYS.
Officials of the Auckland Hospital Board's relief department !had another busy time to-day in dealing with some hundreds of' applicants, for sustenance. The men queued up from an early hour, and the presence of a small squad of police under a sergeant, was. sufficient to prevent any attempt at jostling. A semi-military system was adopted, detachments from the head of the main queue 'being broken off from time to .time and the men formed into a smaller queue to obviate undue crowding at the office entrance.
Approximately 2000 cases have been dealt with during the last three days. On< Tuesday 200 applications were considered; yesterday 1100; and while the crowd awaiting attention to-day was smaller than that of yesterday the officials anticipated that they would hear some hundreds of applications before closing down.
