BRITAIN'S SEVERE WINTER.

Tho first snow this winter in London fell to-day, when, the temperature dropped after a mild Christmas spell.

The snowfall was only slight in London, but heavier in the north of England and Scotland, where AVinter sports are proceeding in some of the holiday centres.

Cold, bright weather, with further slight falls of snow, continues over most of Britain. In the Scottish Highlands there has been a 'great influx of winter sports enthusiasts, and the holiday centres are experiencing what is virtually the first winter season.
