ELLERSLIE FASHIONS.

SECOND DAY OF RACES.

The sunny morning and warm air encouraged .a large number to wear flimsy frocks at Ellerslie to-day, and in spite of later threatening skies the feminine eye was able to feast on the sight presented. Daintily arranged frills gave an attractive Victorian appearance to many of the models, and this note was further struck by the trimmings of flowers, ribbon bows, and velvet streamers which were to be seen on the wide-brimmed hats which accompanied the ensembles. Those who preferred the more practical sports style wore smart tailored suits in pastel coloured Shantungs and silks, and in these cases plain straw hats were worn. The skirts on the more elaborate models were long, with skilful draperies which fell from a tightly fitting waist-line. Pastel shades were mostly favoured, though some very smart effects were produced with the more brilliant reds and blues. Among those present on the lawn were: —
