GOLD PRODUCTION.

Information supplied by the Mines Dept. shows that the value of gold purchased by or deposited with gold dealers in New Zealand during the months of August, September and October, 1931, was greater than for the corresponding three months of 1930 by approximately fIG.OOO. There should also be taken into consideration the reduced output of the Rimu dredge, which was closed down for approximately four months in the current year for the purpose of transferring maohinsry and equipment from the old to the new dredge. The estimated loss of gold during this period amounted to £14,000. But for this loss the increase would have been about £30,000.
