SOCIAL GATHERINGS.
The Y.W.C.A. of New Zealand is holding a Dominion conference at St. Matthew's School, Masterton, from December 29 to January 5, when members representing the Federated Clubs and Girl Citizens will be present.
A children's birthday party was held on Saturday at tho residence of Mrs. Clifford, View Road, Henderson, to celebrate their son Jack's birthday. The room was tastefully decorated with sweet peas and Iceland poppies and coloured balloons and streamers. Amongst those present were: Mary Osborne, Allison Milsom, Jean Kibblewhite, Ngaire Worrail, Jean Eason, Pinky Scott, Beverly Ash, Joyce Steele, Patricia Robertson, Malcolm Kibblewhite, Eric Hannan, Brian Spearpoint, Colin Ash, Graham Peters, Quentin Robb, Reynold Spearpoint.
A pleasant evening was spent at the residence of Mr; W. H. Tongue, Remuera Road, on Christmas Eve, the occasion being the celebration of the silver wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Tongue. The guests were received in the lounge by Mrs. Tongue, who wore autumn floral ninon, assisted by her daughter Myrtle, wearing pink floral georgette, and her son, Mr. Max Tongue. The Rev. R. L. Walker, who officiated at the wedding, was present, as was Mrs. W. Black, bridesmaid. Among those present were: Mcsdames Texiera, sen., Barton, Gow, Urquhart, Rogers, Carsons, Parker, Cattanaeh, Loram, Matthews, J. Mcintosh, Samuels, Misses IT. Mcintosh, Gow, Tongue, Cattanaeh, St. George, Loram.' The. Rev. R. L. Walker proposed' the health of the bride and bridegroom.
